Easy Home Remedies for Common Health Problems

Ayurveda is a holistic science of life, useful in management of common health problems.  It has tried and time tested remedies, which can be easily whipped at home with most of the ingredients (remedies) present in your kitchen. These ingredients tap the goodness of herbs, spices, etc. to provide relief from specific health problems. 

However, we also have a word of caution. The remedies mentioned in the post here cannot be used in replacement for medical attention. 

Bid Adieu to Acidity/Stomach Ailments

If you suffer from acidity, consider chewing a few basil leaves. Basil leaves act as an antacid, prevents acid reflux and helps the body absorb nutrients. 

Chewing a piece of clove after a meal also helps to gain relief from acidity. You can also get rid of stomach and gastric ailments by chewing a clove of garlic on an empty stomach daily in the morning. 

Those suffering from chronic constipation or indigestion should eat a half cup of cooked beets before breakfast.

Foods for Easing Headaches & Nausea

Suffering from a headache each time, you venture out in the sun for too long? Consume a glass of watermelon juice daily. 

Gain relief from nausea by consuming a lemon infused water. Lemon water can also be had daily as it has several health benefits. Lemon juice helps flush out waste from the body, and cure indigestion and stress. Lemon being rich in Vitamin C, also enhances the immunity levels of the body. 

Ward off that Cough & Common Cold with these Ayurvedic remedies 

If a dry cough is making your life miserable, try this remedy – take ½ liter of milk, add 6 dates to it and bring it to boil. Lower the heat and let it simmer for 25 minutes. Consume this potion thrice a day to gain relief from dry cough instantly. 

Here’s a simple Ayurvedic cough syrup, which you can make at home to loosen the mucus. Chop six medium-sized onions, add four tablespoons of honey and leave them in the water bath on low heat for an hour. Strain the syrup and consume one tablespoon of it every three hours. 

For severe cough, add Tulsi juice with garlic juice and honey. Have a teaspoon of this mixture every three hours. 

To get relief from common cold, coughs and sore throat mix 2 teaspoons of honey with an equal amount of ginger juice and have it thrice a day. 

Proven Ways to Eliminate Acne, Blackheads & Dark Circles

Apply grated cucumber over the face and neck for 15 minutes for treating acne and blackheads 

To combat dark circles, take a fresh tomato, a tablespoon of lemon juice, a pinch of Haldi and gram flour and blend in a mixer. Apply this paste around your eyes and rinse off after 10 minutes. Repeat this process thrice a week to see the difference! 

Addressing the issue of Iron Deficiency & Low Blood Pressure:

Iron deficiency can be dealt at home by eating a mixture of milk and dates. To make this mixture, pound 3-4 dates in milk, add a little ghee to it and consume daily. 

Those suffering from low blood pressure  can benefit from having a glass of pomegranate juice daily.

Garlic Juice for Ear Pain:

Obtain relief from ear pain by putting a drop of garlic juice in the affected ear.
