Ayurvedic Buttermilk

This buttermilk is lighter than the usual buttermilk, and hence does not increase Kapha.

The buttermilk is an excellent source of digestive microbes, that help in digestion and absorption of nutrients.


Ingredients needed

  • Fresh cold yogurt- a quarter cup

  • Cold water- three quarter cups

  • Cumin powder- a pinch

  • Coriander leaves- a few, washed and finely chopped

  • Rock salt- a pinch

How to make the Ayurvedic buttermilk?

Step No 1.

  • Take the yogurt in a blender and blend it for five minutes.

Step No 2.

  • Add the water and blend again for five minutes.

Step No 3.

  • Remove the fatty foam on top, using a spoon.

Step No 4.

  • Blend the mixture, again and remove the foam over the buttermilk.

Step No 5.

  • The above steps can be repeated a few more times, till the buttermilk becomes watery and cloudy.

Step No 6.

  • Add the cumin powder, chopped coriander leave, and the rock salt, and mix it evenly.

Step No 7.

  • No need to chill, serve it at room temperature.
