Brahma Mudra helps revitalize all the Panchamahabhutas in the body, and therefore, the mantra Om is an important component of this Mudra. It is a mix of four sounds, ‘aah’, ‘uuuh’, ‘eeeh’ and ‘mmmh’, that help balance all the five elements.

To practice Brahma Mudra, you may follow the steps mentioned below:

  •
  • Step 1: Sit in a comfortable position. The most ideal poses are Vajrasana (diamond pose), Sukhasana (easy pose) and Padmasana (lotus pose).
  • Step 2: Place your hands on the thighs in a way that your palms face the ceiling. Then, fold your thumbs inwards and make them touch the little fingers. Wrap the other fingers over your thumb and make a fist or clenched hand.
  • Step 3: Bring the knuckles of both hands together and press them against each other. Rest your fists against the pubic bone while pressing the knuckles.
  • Step 4: Close your eyes and focus on the Mudra.
  • Step 5: Now, inhale slowly and gently turn your head towards the right. Then, exhale and make the sound ‘aah’ as you gently bring your head towards the centre.
  • Step 6: Inhale again and turn your head towards the left. As you exhale, make the sound of ‘uuuh’ and bring your head back to the centre.
  • Step 7: Now, bend your head backwards as you inhale. Make the sound of ‘eeeh’ while exhaling and bringing your head back to the centre.
  • Step 8: Lastly, inhale and bend your head down as you rest your chin on your chest. Exhale slowly and make the sound of ‘mmmh’ and gently lift your head back to the centre.
  • Step 9: Repeat this process 3-12 times and maintain your breathing patterns.
