During the festive and wedding season, everyone wants a radiant complexion and a natural glow on the face. For your skin, Ayurveda has mentioned many herbs and spices that can be used to form Ubtans and improve skin health. 

What is Ubtan?

Ubtan, also known as Ubvartan in Ayurveda, is a mixture of herbs that serve as a natural cleanser, scrub and face pack. It is made with numerous herbs, spices, pulses and nuts that help to bring a festive glow to the skin and treat various skin problems such as acne, dryness, wrinkles, etc. The most common herbs in all the Ubtans are besan or chickpea flour, sandalwood powder or Chandan, rose water, honey, yoghurt, almonds, turmeric powder, Neem powder and fennel powder. All these ingredients are known to relieve skin problems and boost skin health.

Chandan and Besan Ubtan:

This Ubtan is one of the best Ubtans to get clear skin. While Chandan or sandalwood powder helps lighten dark spots, chickpea powder or Besan helps exfoliate the skin and remove all impurities. The milk in the Ubtan helps to hydrate the exfoliated skin.

How To Make Chandan and Besan Ubtan?

Take one tablespoon of sandalwood powder, one tablespoon of chickpea flour and one tablespoon of milk in a bowl. Mix all the ingredients well, and then apply to your face and neck. Rub it in a circular motion and leave it for 10 minutes. Once dried, wash the Ubtan with lukewarm water.  

Oatmeal and Besan Ubtan:

Oatmeal and chickpea flour helps to exfoliate the skin and remove all the dirt. They also help to prevent pimple outbursts. In this Ubtan, Neem leaves are also used. According to Ayurveda, Neem has anti-inflammatory properties and is one of the best herbs to cure acne. Therefore, this Ubtan is highly beneficial for people suffering from acne.

How To Make Oatmeal and Besan Ubtan?

Take two tablespoons of chickpea flour and two tablespoons of oatmeal in a bowl. Add some crushed neem leaves and mix all the ingredients using rose water. Apply the Ubtan on your face and neck and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Once it is completely dried, wash it with water. 

Aloe Vera and Almonds Ubtan:

This Ubtan is best for people with dry skin. Almonds help to nourish and moisturise the skin, whereas aloe vera helps to prevent skin infections. Sandalwood powder is also added to his Ubtan to help bring a festive glow to your face

How To Make Sandalwood and Almonds Ubtan?

Soak seven almonds in water overnight and then grind them to a fine paste in the morning. Next, take three tablespoons of sandalwood powder, almond paste and some aloe vera gel in a bowl. Mix all the ingredients and form a lotion. Apply it on your skin and let it penetrate inside your skin. 

Besan and Yoghurt Ubtan:

This Ubtan helps to bring an even tone to your face at festivals. Chickpea flour and turmeric helps to exfoliate the face while sandalwood powder and yoghurt help to brighten the face. Honey is also added to this Ubtan as it helps to moisturise the skin and prevent skin infections and acne.    

How To Make Besan and Yoghurt Ubtan?

Take one tablespoon of chickpea flour, two tablespoons of sandalwood powder, one teaspoon of turmeric powder, three tablespoons of yoghurt and two teaspoons of honey in a bowl. Mix all the ingredients well and apply the mixture evenly on your face. Leave the Ubtan for 15-20 minutes, and then wash it with water. 

Almonds and Oatmeal Ubtan:

This Ubtan is perfect for festivals. It constitutes all the ingredients that can help boost your skin health. Oatmeal helps to nourish and moisturise the skin, turmeric helps to heal the skin, almonds helps to provide all the essential nutrients, neem prevents acne and skin infections, sandalwood powder brings the natural glow to your face, and fennel powder helps to deeply clean your face. 

How To Make Almonds and Oatmeal Ubtan?

Soak 6-7 almonds overnight and grind these soaked almonds to make a smooth paste. Now, take one tablespoon of sandalwood powder, one tablespoon of oatmeal, three tablespoons of chickpea flour, ½ tablespoon of neem powder, ¼ teaspoon of turmeric powder and ½ tablespoon of fennel powder. Mix all the ingredients along with almond paste using rose water. If you have dry skin, you may also use milk to mix all the ingredients. Now, apply the Ubtan on your face and neck and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Once dried, scrub the Ubtan gently and then wash with water.
